Tina Ann Byers: It is so important to know Dog CPR. Within the last year, my 19 year old Yorkie, Paras, had 3 cardiac episodes and Dog CPR brought her back each time. Paras continues to enjoy an excellent quality of life -- and it just would not have happened if I did not know Dog CPR.Tina Ann ByersProud Yorkie Mommie of Tashia (5), Paras (19), Arnold (13 - Special Needs) and Baby Gabby (11 months - Special Needs)

From the mouths of dogs

Many of us fill our days with chores, sitting in traffic and meeting work deadlines.  Have you ever wondered what dogs think about?  I think these are some of the thoughts that come from my dogs:

Run, romp, and play daily with my humans and my friends the dogs.

If you want what is buried, continued digging until you find it.

If you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

If it's in your best interests, practice obedience.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride with your human.

Never pass up an opportunity to take a nap and be sure to stretch before rising.

Common Cents

I have always thought it was important to pick up money that was within reach of my dogs, usually on the carpet or on the floor.  I have recently read that all pennies minted after 1982 contain a high zinc concentration that can be poisonous to a dog if swallowed.  So pick up those pennies and other coins that may be hidden by the upholstery and buy your dog a safe chew toy.

Plastic Bowls Use

It is not recommended that you serve food or water to your dogs or cats in plastic bowls.  It is a fact that a dog can chew on the bowl and invite bacteria into the punctured plastic.  Some dogs refuse to eat because the taste or the smell of the plastic is not pleasant to them.  It is much healthier for dogs and cats to eat their food and water in ceramic, steel or glass bowls.  I have also read that eating out of plastic bowls can discolor a black dog's nose.

Warning

Never give your dog or cat Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen.  These over-the-counter medications may cause ulcers and be toxic to your animals.
