Tina Ann Byers: It is so important to know Dog CPR. Within the last year, my 19 year old Yorkie, Paras, had 3 cardiac episodes and Dog CPR brought her back each time. Paras continues to enjoy an excellent quality of life -- and it just would not have happened if I did not know Dog CPR.Tina Ann ByersProud Yorkie Mommie of Tashia (5), Paras (19), Arnold (13 - Special Needs) and Baby Gabby (11 months - Special Needs)

To ship a Dog or stuff the dog under your seat on the plane??

Recently we tried to make arrangements to have a transporter bring one of our dogs back to California.  There is a sense of urgency because the dog is pregnant and is due before the end of this month.  The transporter and the other owner could not mesh their schedules so that ruled out using the transporter to bring the girl inside the plane.

My husband considered driving to pick-up our girls but it was three days driving each way, plus the additional expenses of gas, hotels, food, and the long drive alone.  And it is still winter time going the shortest route between the two locations.  And he would be carrying for the dogs on the long drive home...while I was taking care of the dogs at home.  So this arrangement was tabled.

We used to have an airline that went from Ontario, California to MCI non-stop in about 3 hours.  There was even enough room under the seat to put the dog carrier and have room for your feet.  Unfortunately, this is one of the airlines and flights that have evaporated from the map.  Now every airlines make you change planes in either Dallas, Denver, or Houston.  We flew United and American last month-- neither airline had enough room for your feet much less for a dog carrier under the seat.  Most approved "carriers" do not let a dog stand up --not comfortable for the dog or for you bringing the dog on board.

So we chose to have her shipped.  She flew in a standard size crate where she could stand up, turn around or lay down.  There were 5 dogs coming into the airport....they were removed quickly from the plane and were out of their carriers as soon as each party presented their paperwork.  Our girl was clean and happy and now she is home.......

So what would you do???
